‘Blinx’ is a social networking app designed for children and acts as a safer alternative to the popular social media apps adults use. Blinx differs from conventional social media apps as the safety of children, their families and fellow community members are the driving force and are of the apps utmost priority. This app allows children to enter the world of social media with the close guidance of their families and trusted community members. Parents create the account, add their children and alter the settings depending on what content they want their child to have access to. Members take photos and record voice memos (Vemos) which are added to a portfolio (‘BlinxBook’). These BlinxBooks are sorted into themes in which all invited members (‘In Crowd’) can share and view content. This app can be a great tool to help children learn positive online habits while also allowing parents to continue their parenting and guidance online.
